National Parks in California

Do you know that California has 9 National Parks?  I visited only 4 of them but it was an unforgettable experience and every Park was unique and had it’s own magic!

HERE ARE 4 BEAUTIFUL NATIONAL PARKS:

The youngest is:

 JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK (1994) has an absolutely amazing combination with special rock formations and desert landscapes. It’s name is after the Joshua Tree (Yucca) and given by Mormon settlers. 

If you like camping, hiking, climbing – that is the right place for you. 

 Interesting places are for example  – Hidden Valley- One mile loop trail or Lost Horse MINE (history of local mining). Joshua Tree is home to many animals – if you have any luck you can observe birds, lizards or ground squirrels. The coyotes also live there and be careful, nobody wants to meet with the scorpions or rattlesnakes.

The driest and hottest is:

 DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK – it is a desert valley located in Southwest California alongside the Nevada border. The name was given by a group of pioneers. They were lost here in the winter of 1849-1850. The place was originally home of the Timbisha Shoshone. The Park is known for its extremes – Badwater Basin – salt flat is the lowest and driest point in the USA. 

Scenic driving is also very popular. Do not miss places like Zabriskie Point, Dante’s View, Artist’s Drive or Devils Golf Course if you like golf! The best season for visit the park are in the winter.

The biggest is:

SEQUOIA & KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK are 

 famous for its largest trees in the world! It is really unique.

Do not miss this interesting places like GENERAL Sherman Tree – is largest tree on Earth by volume and it is really natural wonder, Giant Forest Museum, Tunnel Log and Morro Rock with the spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

People enjoy hiking and camping here. This is home for Black Bears, coyotes, sheeps, deers and marmots…

The oldest is:

 YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (1864) has a natural beauty with more entrances and plenty of terrain variety, which are very popular and used by car. Famous for its fabulous waterfalls, deep valley and grand meadows… 

You can find more information in the Visitor Center.

The most famous places are Yosemite Falls, Rock formations El Capitan and Bridal veil Fall or Half Dome, Sentinel Meadow.

Popular things to do here is: auto touring, camping, hiking, biking, fishing, rafting and for romantic people – stargazing!!! 

This amazing place is home for more than 300 Black Bears!! You can meet also with the mule deers, bobcats, foxes or observe more than 250 species of birds. May or September are the best Months for visit these places.

    Hello Kamila.

    Stunning photos! We have been twice to Yosemite. I remember especially El Capitan. We had possibility to see to see climbers resting on their way to the top thru my video camera using 10 times zoom. This happened in 1998. When driving around California and Nevada, we visited also Muir Woods National Monument nearby San Francisco.

    My wife and I have been to 3 of the four. We’ll probably pass on Death Valley. Our visit to Sequoia reminded us of Lorien, home of an elf clan from Lord of the Rings– because of the massiveness of these trees. Hard to fathom a seed becoming one of these giants. Nice post, Kamila.

    Wonderful photos of some of my favorite places. Living in California I am fortunate that I have been able to visit all of them. And I’ll be back in the future. In the meantime it’s great to see somebody else’s perspective. Stay well!
